Primary Focus

Paintings by Denis Folz

Exhibit: April 29 – June 10, 2012

Unlock the Door by Denis Folz

Denis J. Folz’s exhibition “Primary Focus” is a new series of wall constructions uniting his painting and sculpture styles. A painter working in the Humanist Impressionist style since the 1980's, Mr Folz has applied his aesthetic vision and sensibilities to sculpture since 2009, combining abstracted organic shapes and angled constructed elements to create powerful and graphic statements on nature. He has now returned to painting, creating a hybrid technique that layers cut metal forms over painted imagery. The assemblage creates an integral organic frame hovering over a select part of a scene that becomes the "primary focus" of each piece. Both abstract and recognizable, the result expands the ideas of focus and intent.
